The University of Dayton Flyers improved to 2-0 on the young hoops campaign with a hard-fought 71-66 W over the Northwestern Wildcats.

To say that it was a contest of two halves would be an understatement. One look at the boxscore tells the tale:

UD shot a pedestrian 35% from the field in the first stanza; in the second twenty minutes, they doubled that, making 16-23 or 70%. More importantly, the Flyers forced 16 turnovers that led to 20 points for the good guys.
What drove the offense was the pressure defense applied by the Red and Chapel Blue that led to Wildcat stud Nick Martinelli coughing up 6 turnovers to go with his 32 points and 14 rebounds.
