Thought I'd start a new thread for this year so anyone interested (the three of you out there) won't have to wade through last year's.
Flyers somewhat bounced back this weekend, winning another series at home against Bryant. Unfortunately they were not able to complete the sweep, and thus remain under .500.
Next up is another road test @ Akron on Tuesday. Akron is really bad so hopefully we take care of business. Only one mid-week game this week before the first A10 series of the year this weekend @ George Mason.
Pitiful mid-week loss to Akron BUT the Fly Boys took a step toward redemption today with a big opening game win in the series @ GMU.
Early 11 AM first pitch tomorrow for game two. UD needs a sweep to be at or above .500.
Hard to do these updates at this point. This team pretty much stinks. We sit at 11-15 now and a pitiful 242 RPI.
This week's mid-week game is a Wednesday affair with Air Force of all schools, at home. They are pretty bad as well so it should be a pretty winnable game.
This weekend is also a pretty winnable series with Davidson coming to town. Normally a Southern school would strike fear but the Wildcats are pretty dismal themselves this year.
AFA smoked us 13-3. I havent watched any of the games but I dont really need to in order to know our pitching and defense must be atrocious. We have given up 10+ runs in 12 of 27 games this year. Almost half. You aren't gonna beat anyone on a consistent basis giving up 6-7 runs let alone 10-15.
Not sure where to put this since there is no topic for UD Tennis. The UD Men's Tennis team just won their 18th straight match and won the A10 with a perfect 7-0 record. They now have a week off before a non-conference match at Louisville, and then the A10 Tourney.
Well I've got to give credit where credit is due. Fly Boys have been on a tear since the Air Force debacle. They've won 9 of 11 games, including three A10 series wins (two of them sweeps) over Davidson, UMass, and GW. One of the two losses during that stretch was to a ranked Vandy team on the road. Outside of one bad inning the Flyers were very competitive in that game as well.
The RPI saw a huge jump as a result of this run, up 34 spots over the last week and we are finally above .500 at 20-18 overall. Dayton is 10-5 in A10 play and shares first place with four other schools at the moment.
Next up for the Flyers is a mid-week bout with the OU Bobcats tomorrow at home. Then a trip to Kingston this weekend to face the also 10-5 URI Rams. Here's to hoping they can keep this up!
Both A10 baseball and softball are either T1 or in outright first place. This is after a record setting fall where MSOC and VB reached the sweet 16.
Tough weekend for the Fly Boys who were swept @ URI. This series despite all three being losses actually boosted the Flyers' RPI which is now up to 187.
Up next this week is a horrendous EKU team on the road and then another solid A10 team on the road this weekend (St. Joe's.)
Flyers survive a comeback attempt from EKU last night and are back above .500.
Another HUGE A10 series this weekend the Flyers must come out victorious if they want to stay in the hunt
