Then there is a slew of coaches who have eight-figure buyouts and are, in all likelihood, unattainable: Alabama's Nate Oats, Florida's Todd Golden, Missouri's Dennis Gates, UCLA's Mick Cronin and Arizona's Tommy Lloyd. It's also unclear what Shaka Smart's buyout is, given that Marquette is a private school, but he doesn't appear interested in leaving.

I put a few coaching changes trackers links in the first post.

Duke associate hc expected to take the Miami Hurricanes job, there was some speculation about AG heading home with that job, so AG isn't heading to Miami.

Florida State is open.

LaSalle is open, hc Dunphy is retiring.

South Florida also open among other openings.

9 jobs open/not officially closed.

Utah hc Craig Smith got fired, 4 years including this year, 0/4 ncaat, 1 NIT. This was their first year in the Big 12.

They were kind of still alive/on the bubble maybe.

Murray State fired hc Steve Prohm. Dayton assistant James Kane is mentioned as a candidate.

Looks like the MVC has definitely been much tougher for MSU than the OVC was.

From the CBS link in the first post upthread:

5 Murray St.
Out: Steve Prohm | In: TBD
Prohm's second go-round with the Racers wasn't fruitful. He resigned Friday after Murray State's loss to Bradley. He leaves with a 45-52 record in three years. Word in the Missouri Valley is Murray State is ready to invest more money into its program than any other school in that league for the 2025-26 season. One logical candidate here is Dayton assistant James Kane, whose roots are tied to Murray State and who nearly got the job three years ago when it went to Prohm.

Interesting.  RJ Greer is a 2025 commit.  Might re-open recruiting.

They've got good fan support, #19 last year...won a title with Jimmy V, won another title in 1974 also...ACC league...a pretty good job to have IMO

I think it has more to do with his overall body of work:  4/8 making the ncaat, just a 12-19 record this year...11-21 record another year...I gave him the benefit of the doubt in 2020 making the ncaat, they were on the bubble...round of 64x2, final four, covid year...they likely expect much better than that...they likely want to be on the same level as UNC and Duke, both who are in their own back yard, they are likely sick of playing second fiddle to those two.

I personally wouldn't have fired him.

I hear ya. Very tough. As far as NCST being on par with NC and Duke, ESPN will always do their best to not let that happen. ESPN’s constant worship and non-stop promotion of Duke and NC is a fact of life. Even when Virginia was on top of ACC, it’s  always those two with all the media coverage.

Every ego maniac coach who thinks they can win anywhere they go (which i think is a good trait, although sometimes misguided). Oh and did I mention they all crave money? So as long as NC State is willing to pay there will be no shortage of candidates for the job.

I'm sure Archie would go there in a heartbeat.

What if they offered it to Greer to keep his son?

Greer isn’t a top 100 player. There’s no way they bring in an unproven coach to keep a player ranked 149.

The other thing is that NCSU is paying $8 million to get rid of Keatts, and they went to the Final 4 last year, I think they are crazy.

RJ would be a huge get. I didn’t think UD was on his list though. Am I mis-remembering?

I found an old article, and we weren’t in his final 4 in November, 2024. Of course, things can change.

The game has evolved to grown men.  The power conferences have a bunch of men.  The boys(Fr/Soph) are going to have to be physically mature to compete with them.

From the CBS link upthread. Bellarmine was a big Wright State rival from the division 2 days. Both schools used to be d2 schools. Thought this was noteworthy:

Out: Scott Davenport | In: Doug Davenport
Scott Davenport was an institution at Bellarmine, guiding the program from D-II to D-I in recent years. He won a national title in 2011 and went to four D-II Final Fours in total, in addition to 426 games across 20 seasons. In total, he spent more than four decades coaching basketball in Louisville. A fixture in that city. With his retirement, Bellarmine has allowed Scott to hand the job to his son, Doug, who has been on staff for nine years.

I saw that the CBS link upthread mentioned SLU hc Schertz as a candidate for the Minnesota job.

Sheesh, what a punch to SLU's gut that would be if he were to leave. Brutal.

The Loyola Chicago hc Valentine was also mentioned as a candidate for the Minnesota job.

And I read some speculation that Texas would be willing to fire their hc, Rodney Terry, even though they'd owe him $20 million if he was fired. So crazy.

I think that is a bad rumor.  Schertz achieved nothing at St Louis.

Villanova fired kyle Neptune.   Gotta think billy Lange is a candidate to replace him given his connection to Jay Wright

‘Nova was way too eager to hire Neptune after only 1 year at Fordham.

Yes it was a terrible hire from the start and was destined to fail.

If I was to place a bet, I would bet that Steve Alford will be on the move this year away from Nevada.

Supposedly Forbes(WF) and Moser(UO) are likely to move up while not making an NCAA tourney at their current school.

Indiana hired Darian DeVries.   Interesting.  On his staff at West Virginia was Tom Ostrom.  Tom was Archie's assistant at UD and Indiana.  Hope that is not a bad omen for DeVries

It sure didn’t hurt him! He parlayed the WVU gig into landing the top 10 IU job.

When DeVries was hired at WVU he said he was going to be there a very, very, very long time...I guess if you consider one year a very, very, very long time... 🤣 🤣 🤣

LaSalle's new hc is Darris Nichols, very tough job, good luck to him...played for John Beilein and Bob Huggins at WVU...4 years as the hc at Radford ending this year, no NIT or ncaat appearances at Radford
