Indiana hc Mike Woodson stepping down at the end of the season
I put a few coaching changes trackers links in the first post.
Duke associate hc expected to take the Miami Hurricanes job, there was some speculation about AG heading home with that job, so AG isn't heading to Miami.
Florida State is open.
LaSalle is open, hc Dunphy is retiring.
South Florida also open among other openings.
9 jobs open/not officially closed.
Utah hc Craig Smith got fired, 4 years including this year, 0/4 ncaat, 1 NIT. This was their first year in the Big 12.
They were kind of still alive/on the bubble maybe.
Alex Jensen hired as new Utah Utes hc...former NBA assistant coach...was a star player for the Utes in college
Duke associate hc Jai Lucas confirmed as new Miami Hurricanes hc
Murray State fired hc Steve Prohm. Dayton assistant James Kane is mentioned as a candidate.
Looks like the MVC has definitely been much tougher for MSU than the OVC was.
From the CBS link in the first post upthread:
5 Murray St.
Out: Steve Prohm | In: TBD
Prohm's second go-round with the Racers wasn't fruitful. He resigned Friday after Murray State's loss to Bradley. He leaves with a 45-52 record in three years. Word in the Missouri Valley is Murray State is ready to invest more money into its program than any other school in that league for the 2025-26 season. One logical candidate here is Dayton assistant James Kane, whose roots are tied to Murray State and who nearly got the job three years ago when it went to Prohm.
NC State fires Kevin Keatts, one year after making the Final Four
RJ would be a huge get. I didn’t think UD was on his list though. Am I mis-remembering?
I found an old article, and we weren’t in his final 4 in November, 2024. Of course, things can change.
The game has evolved to grown men. The power conferences have a bunch of men. The boys(Fr/Soph) are going to have to be physically mature to compete with them.
From the CBS link upthread. Bellarmine was a big Wright State rival from the division 2 days. Both schools used to be d2 schools. Thought this was noteworthy:
Out: Scott Davenport | In: Doug Davenport
Scott Davenport was an institution at Bellarmine, guiding the program from D-II to D-I in recent years. He won a national title in 2011 and went to four D-II Final Fours in total, in addition to 426 games across 20 seasons. In total, he spent more than four decades coaching basketball in Louisville. A fixture in that city. With his retirement, Bellarmine has allowed Scott to hand the job to his son, Doug, who has been on staff for nine years.
Fran McCaffery out at Iowa
Minnesota fired their hc.
Florida State hired a new hc.
Murray State hired a new hc, Dayton assistant James Kane did not get the hc job.
I saw that the CBS link upthread mentioned SLU hc Schertz as a candidate for the Minnesota job.
Sheesh, what a punch to SLU's gut that would be if he were to leave. Brutal.
The Loyola Chicago hc Valentine was also mentioned as a candidate for the Minnesota job.
And I read some speculation that Texas would be willing to fire their hc, Rodney Terry, even though they'd owe him $20 million if he was fired. So crazy.
Villanova fired kyle Neptune. Gotta think billy Lange is a candidate to replace him given his connection to Jay Wright
UNLV fired hc Kevin Kruger
If I was to place a bet, I would bet that Steve Alford will be on the move this year away from Nevada.
Supposedly Forbes(WF) and Moser(UO) are likely to move up while not making an NCAA tourney at their current school.
Devries to IU
Indiana hired Darian DeVries. Interesting. On his staff at West Virginia was Tom Ostrom. Tom was Archie's assistant at UD and Indiana. Hope that is not a bad omen for DeVries
Will Wade said to take the NC St job, once his team is out of the NCAA
So no Archie there.
Looks like Fordham is showing Keith Urgo the exit door.
Red Auerbach couldn’t win at Fordham.
Bill’s not walkin thru that door at Rose Hill.
LaSalle's new hc is Darris Nichols, very tough job, good luck to him...played for John Beilein and Bob Huggins at WVU...4 years as the hc at Radford ending this year, no NIT or ncaat appearances at Radford
