Former Centerville team mates enter portal
Guard Gabe Cupps Indiana
Forward Jonathan Powell WVU... WVU coach just took IU job.
Could Powell follow to IU?
Or does UD have a chance with both guys?
I agree, I think the money will always be the motivating factor. Program culture and coach and things like that are probably a tie breaker. But, if everyone's dollars spend the same, it is potentially a very important tie breaker.
Too late for Melvin Council. He transfers from St. Bonaventure to Kansas.
Too late for Luke Bamgboye. He transfers from VCU to Texas Tech.
Too late for Wes Enis. He transfers from Lincoln Memorial to USF (South Florida).
Too late for Gavin Griffiths. He transfers from Nebraska to Temple.
I'll just say, UD ain't done working the portal... Hopefully we add another Power 5 transfer in the coming days
With a little digging outside of Flyerhoops (I don’t have a subscription), it’s not hard to figure out who this mystery guard is. Out of deference to LHS and Matt Schwade, I won’t reveal the name. But I will say he’s a former top 100 four-star recruit at a P4 school that didn’t get much playing time as a freshman. He would be an excellent get (as always, on paper) for AG and staff. Fingers crossed.
Not looking for anyone to give away who but can we get a when the visit is occurring?
I just had a, never going to happen, thought. Both Amzil and Sissoko are in the portal. I am assuming that they have one year of eligibility left. If Grant just inserted these two experienced guys back into the roster, this team would be most interesting.
More transfers from the Dayton Daily News list of players contacted by Dayton or mentioned on this blog.
Too late for Baraka Okojie from George Mason and Memphis. He transfers to Mercer.
Too late for Rayvon Griffith from Cincinnati. He transfers to Kent State.
Too late for Will McClendon from San Jose State. He transfers to North Texas.
ok, I’ll drop the “too late for”.
Miami OH Big Man Reece Potter was the guy that visited, he decided to go home to Lexington and play at UK
Anyone know of upcoming visits?
Off the original Dayton Daily News list of Dayton basketball contacts, Christian Henry from Eastern Michigan transfers to Fordham. So, he will be an opponent.
Montgomery and Heard have higher ratings. They were better gets. At this point, AG is most likely pursuing a 4. The stable is full with guards.
If I recall AG has gotten some players in early June over the years. With it being very very quite I don't believe he is done, just that they are working the portal and HS recruit areas for the final player(s) roster.
AM I wrong? AH! Don't answer that!?
I looked at the 247 site last night while I was watching the Pacer's game and it seemed like there are some relatively highly rated bigs still available. I don't know anything about their rating system but it seems like the well is not completely dry.
Not portal or international news, but Dayton has offered a scholarship to Jordan Derkack’s brother, Aidan. He’s a 2026 recruit and a consensus four-star (though three-star on Rivals, ranked 127) 6-5 shooting guard with offers from Villanova, Rutgers, Xavier and Miami (FL), among others. ESPN has him ranked 53 in their Top 100 and 247Sports has him at 68. Don’t know if he has interest in playing alongside his brother.

I believe he is 2026
Baba Miller from Florida Atlantic transfers to Cincinnati. This is the 6’11” guy that Dayton played against in the NIT. Florida Atlantic had 4 big guys that I was impressed with. 7’00” Vokietaitis went to Texas, 6’7” Tre Carroll went to Xavier and 6’7” Kaleb Glenn went to Michigan State. That Florida Atlantic team was loaded with good big guys and they left.
Here is some old news that I just read.
Shawn Phillips, who Dayton offered back on September 14, 2020 at 7’00” 245 has transferred in the portal from Arizona State to Missouri.
He originally committed to North Carolina State then decommitted and went to LSU then to Arizona State and now to Missouri.
If I remember correctly, he attended high school in the Dayton area and then his family moved to Ypsilanti Michigan where he graduated.
I just looked back to last year.
Grant signed Amael L’Etang on June 12.
We are still looking for another 4/5 trust me... Just gotta chill
Mousa to Cal Poly
Not much left in the portal. Other programs are currently signing international players. At this point, are we done?
