While Jack was a head scratcher, THIS ONE really leaves me scratching my head.  Figured with medical assistance UD provided and two years of academics, he would ride it out. Heck even if he was a project, AG has shown patience in the past (Uhl, Obi, etc).  I thought one more year for sure.        He seems like a positive person. I hope he finds what he is looking for.

I, too, hope things work out for him. I can’t imagine there being much of a market for him at this point. Of course, we have no idea what he’s looking for. It’s been a tough journey for him.

This does make me wonder about who has been in for a visit or has one planned. I can’t imagine that Marvel enters the portal if he thought that he was going to be the starting PG next year. The next several weeks are going to be a crazy ride.

Wow.  Who would take a guy that's never played and been hurt for 2 years?

UD would, I say in jest!

Under Grant we have carried a fair share of scholly players who never ever saw playing time due to injuries either received while at UD or discovered when the recruit transferred in.

UD can ill afford to carry scholly players on the bench for multiple seasons and take up space that quite possibly could be used by a more productive scholly player.

I was hoping he’d stay. He was one of the more energetic guys on the bench, and I was looking forward to seeing him return to the court. Injuries really took a toll, starting in high school, but he was a five-star recruit at one point (though not by the time he signed with us). We invested time and medical expenses in the kid. I hope it pays off and that he does well wherever he lands.

Reminds me of Detwon Rogers

That was my first thought when I heard the news. Another fairly hyped recruit (from the Miller era) who, due to injury, never saw the floor.

First, is Detwon Rogers even a real person? There were rumors but was there ever a sighting? 🤣

Second, with regard to Allen there are plenty of possibilties. He may have been told that he just isn't going to be the same. Or that he was welcome to stay but we couldn't count on him physically. Or that he just felt that he needed a new start. Or, or , or...

It seems like he was supportive when he was on the bench. I've never seen anything about him to indicate he was not a good teammate. It has to be tough having your dream pulled away by your own body. I would think he will have to go lower level if he is looking to leave. It has seemingly been a tough road. I hope he is able to have a solid run with someone. If it works out, I hope there is a chance he comes back in a buy game so he can actually play at the arena.

My empathy has limits. If he ends up the subject of a Nexflix documentary for leading someone to a Final Four run in 2026, I may no longer have warm and fuzzy feelings.

We will see where he goes.  If he goes to a lesser school, then he probably knows he could no longer compete here.  If he transfer up, then he screwed us.

Or, in today’s environment, he could go to a lesser school/conference, blow it up in 2025-26, and then get NIL 💰 to jump to the big leagues in 2026-27. If that happens, I will be royally pi$$ed (with no disrespect intended to King Rollo).
