Wondering whether Bennet played a role in this one. Can't imagine he was not at least in on the visit.

Some interesting comments — and speculation — about Derkack on the Rutgers message board. Most posters were critical of his shooting and inability to finish at the rim, though acknowledged he was adept at drawing fouls. Didn’t think much of his defense, either, despite his reputation for aggressive D at Merrimack. They also thought his family was pushy, wanting more playing time. But others liked his grit and thought he might have been a victim of bad coaching. Three other things of note:

1) Rutgers was one of several high major schools recruiting his four-star brother, Aidan, who has offers from the Miami Hurricanes, Villanova, TCU, and Xavier, among others. Target now for Dayton?

2) They praised Dayton as a step UP from Rutgers and were somewhat surprised he didn’t land at a “lower-level A-10 school” like LaSalle.

3) They suggested he made $200,000 in NIL money at Rutgers and speculated — wildly, if you ask me — that he’s getting $850k at Dayton. No way would his stats merit that.

Anyway, it made for fun reading.
