Troy McCrakens son signing w/ UNCW
Grew up in Cincy but moved south. Not as tall as dad
but would’ve been awesome to see him as a legacy flyer
Troy was about as tough as they come and a great athlete

So what I have gathered the last few days on here, we should recruit former Flyers kids and Shawnta Rogers kids, even if they are not good enough to play here. Got it...

Troy had some basketball skills but was definitely not athletic.

But he did hit two late FTs at St John Arena to stick a fork in Ohio State.

I was there. Great night. OSU had Grandpa Waiters at center, he was balding in his early 20s.

Not sure if he was good enough to play at UD. Just would’ve been cool. If he was like his dad we know we would’ve had another scrapper
like Troy, chip Hare ,Jimmy Binnie and James Crippe

With all due respect to any of those former players, we don’t need McCracken, Cripe, or Binnie types. All of those guys were below average players.

and as I remember, he made those two shots as a sub-50% free throw shooter.

Maybe my memory is fading, but I thought the score was tied and he made only one out of two. I know we won by only one point, 81-80.

My son and I were in the upper deck at St. Johns Arena (circa 1986?) the night Troys late game FTs put away the Buckeyes.
Fast forward 20 years and I was sitting in Troy's office in SW Ohio as a Development Officer for the ENLC Crisis Pregnancy network. He and his family were always very generous to the ENLC mission.

I actually had some overlap with him in the business world, and he struck me as a very genuine person.
