Here is a novel approach that Duquesne is using to differentiate themselves

This is small time program thinking from a small time program.

How many points did Rooney score last year?

This proves that these players are not focused on their game, they're focused on being social media stars.

LOL, if they spent that extra time working on their jump shots maybe they wouldn't have to worry about this.

No wonder their coach can't find any decent recruits, they're all staring at their phones.

If it was such a good idea, Duke and Kansas would be doing it.

LOL, we can't find players who can jump high enough to dunk, what highlights would there be to post?

Sorry, since angrypup started the thread, there was really no one left to mock everything about it. Someone had to fill the role.

DuQuesne is the second most interesting college basketball team in Pittsburgh. Which is about the equivalent of being The second most interesting college hockey team in Florida. yawn.

I don't know enough about NIL. Can somebody wiser than me weigh in -- who's more likely to benefit from it, the #3 scorer at Penn State or a 20 ppg face-of-the-program guy at Duquesne? If it's the latter, maybe a four-star kid chooses to try to be a mid-major star with a branding consultant behind him, rather than being one of the masses in the Big Ten or ACC.
As far any time spent on branding "proving these guys are not focused on their games," cmon, really? People can do more than one thing. Obi Toppin played video games and hung out with his gang at UD, you know, like just about every college student. I would think of players' time spent with a branding coach as much more valuable than a lot of the knucklehead things we all did in college. Almost like an internship toward their eventual careers, making money and learning marketing skills along the way.

Dambrots's strategy since arrival has been to pump in transfers, load the OOC schedule with cupcakes, and hope to finish over 0.500 in league to get 20-25 wins and get into a tournament. They are definitely more competitive, but I'm not sure the strategy has really accomplished what it was put in place to do.

This is a growing trend. Coaching student-athletes in social media usage and brand development has value for the schools and is a powerful recruiting tool.

It's already being done at schools like Ohio State:

Nah, this is meeting players where they are today and not treating them like nothing has changed since the 50s. Social is important to kids today and can be a very legit way to earn income after school. There's a reason why UD shares the players' social accounts.

Well thought out!! Perhaps you should notify Alabama of their folly. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/alabama-becomes-latest-school-to-launch-program-assisting-student-athletes-with-personal-branding/

Let Nebraska know too!

My bad, I'm so used to this forum being full of old men yelling at clouds that I was primed for this post going in
