UNI
So far so bad. Lost both quarters. Down 10 at half. Played poorly.

Same here. Flyers have laid an egg in the 4th quarter. No one having any effect except Cook, who is our leading scorer and rebounder. Whalen and Giacone are a non-factors missing most of their two pointers, 4-14. Whoever is guarding Finley is not getting it done, 5-7 on threes.

Same withTennin. Missing again and again from point blank. You don’t win many GM games shooting 30%.
Now 1-7 in Wnit games. Green’s post season record isn’t good.

Read em and weep. Whalen shot poorly; Jenna didn’t shoot enough.

And they now go to a consolation round tough task for Shauna to get them motivated for that!

Each year she has been coach, the Flyers have earned a post season berth.
3 NCAA and 2 NIT. No they haven't won a post season game. But in regard to the NCAA it is very difficult when your conference gets you a bad seed. Her record is 0-4. But 3 out of 5 years NCAA is not bad.

Not much consolation but UNI has gone on to beat Creighton and then Saint Louis to advance to the NIT Final Four.

So it’s our conference that is responsible for our incredible lack of success in the WNIT? The loser tournament??

Two way street. The poor conference is responsible for our bad seeds. But the reason we're even in the NCAAs is because the conference is so poor.
There is a way around this. Strong OOC scheduling and a good OOC record will improve the seed considerably. This Covid year is an exception, of course. But the Flyers poor post season performance is as much a reflection of the caliber of the team as it is about the poor seeding.
Flyer basketball is not a Top 40 program in my opinion. Considering the resources and program support generally I don't understand that. For whatever reason Green is not recruiting the caliber of players needed to be a "just-below-top-tier program, i.e., Top 40.

Four of the seven years of WBB in the NCAA tourney, were at large invites. They earned those invites because of good OOC schedules and results, not because the league was bad. (This year they only played two games OOC because of Covid cancellations.) And I'm not saying we would have had a good record if we had played those games because I don't know.
I didn't say anything about results in the NCAA. Of course it isn't good that we haven't won an NCAA game since the Elite Eight. (Had a 7 seed as an at large, the best seed we ever had.)

Understood...good points. Nonetheless, Dayton has advantages over most peers and because of that I expect more. The primary advantage is that the UD administration takes women's athletics seriously and provides resources accordingly. That is not the case for many/most women's programs elsewhere.
Another factor is that recruiting is easier in the women's game because the competition for top/good players is not close to being as intense as in men's basketball. Offsetting that is the fact there are fewer good women's players. Nonetheless, for schools that invest in their women's programs, like Dayton, more often than not the investment is reflected in better than average performance on the court/field.
Over the past few years I have had the opportunity to watch UD women's games on TV far more often than in the past. I look forward to it. But, frankly, it's been a long time since I was pleased with Flyer performance no matter who they were playing. Just opinion.

Raterman, Austria, Hoover, Mallott area athletes who made a difference. I wonder what difference makers from the Miami Valley are playing elsewhere other than maddy westbeld att notre dame? I do wish ud could get mc Mahan from centerville I couldn’t find if she conmmited but I thought I heard Sourh Carolina.Remains to be seen if destiny bohanon from wayne is an impact player. As far as the conference it’s very weak look at the embarrassment VCU showed in the tourney with 32 poiints.
