BEVERLY HILLS (MI) — Saturday’s UD loss to Xavier was the highlight of my weekend, if that statement makes any sense. Like most Flyer fans, I was hoping to reverse the Queen City Curse, but not confident that the result was gonna be any different than the last 27 trips down I-75 to face the Muskies have been. The guys went down battling and any one of a number of calls that were or were not made could have swung the difference in the good guys’ favor. If nothing else, you really had to love the effort.

The remaining sports portion of my weekend consisted of going to The Palace of Auburn Hills with Mrs. Swampy and the soon-to-be-Dr. Younger Swampette to watch my other favorite hoops team — the Boston Celtics — get totally destroyed by the Pistons. KG was out with an injury and Rajon Rondo got thrown out for arguing a non-call and whipping the ball at the ref in the 3rd quarter. That was pretty much the ballgame. At least we had really great seats.

In between, I spent the majority of my waking hours scraping wallpaper off the walls in our downstairs bathroom. The only good part of that whole endeavor is having it in the rearview mirror. Kinda like the rest of the weekend.

And come Monday, unlike many Americans (and most Canadians), it was back to work for yours truly.

Yippee.

You may have noticed (especially if you are a member of Pride Plus) that my esteemed editor Chris Rieman is just a tad bit upset about yet another loss to X in Cincy. While not overly pleased about it myself, I am a bit more philosophical in my viewpoint. To my feeble mind, it’s kind of a meaningless streak.

Let’s face it there are three places you can play an opponent:

At home

On the road

At a neutral site

In their last three meetings, UD and X have played one of each and UD emerged victorious in two out of the three.

If the Flyers can knock X out of the A-10 tournament every year, they can lose in Norwood for the rest of my life and I’ll be okay with it.

But that’s just me.

— The headlines out of OSU were decidedly less upbeat, as freshman LaQuinton Ross took to Twitter and basically called Rat Face out for not playing him:
