One of the recruiting sites (Fans Only Recruiting) actually got it right when it came to UD being involved with a top prospect: “Super Prospect forward Sheray Thomas of Montreal, Quebec/Upper Marlboro – Riverdale Baptist, MD, has committed to Kentucky over Virginia. Thomas was also considering Connecticut, Syracuse, West Virginia, Dayton and Richmond. He averaged 19.6 points and 11 rebounds last season.”

— I watched Michael Jordan play the other night vs. the Celtics on ESPN and how can I put this delicately: he looked…errrr…ahhhh…normal.

— How bad are the T-Wolves hurting at guard? They just signed former Depaul star Rod “The Man With The Faraway Look In His Eyes” Strickland.

— Geez, Sammy Smith was barely back from his ordeal in Texas and a poster on the Message Board asked if he doesn’t return, does that free up a scholarship? Why don’t we find out if the kid is alright before we start yanking his full ride, okay?

— Okay, I’m from Boston, so I’m prejudiced, but how do you come up with the ten most memorable moments in World Series history and not have Carlton Fisk’s home run from 1975 included on the list?

— The Basketball News College Hoops Yearbook has Ramod Marshall (#20 “Gunner”) and Brooks Hall (#15 “Slasher”) ranked in the top 20 in the country at their positions, altho some would argue Brooks ain’t no slasher. However, they have the Flyers finishing 3rd in the A-10 West behind X (with West a 1st team All-American and Sato) and Richmond (who had nobody in the top 20 at any position). How exactly does that logic work?

— What is all this “I Am The Heel” nonsense on the Musketeer Madness Message Board? On second thought, don’t tell me, I don’t want to know.

— Future Flyer opponent Ball State was picked by the MAC coaches to finish first in their division.

— I thought that Duquesne was loading up on big guys, until I took a look at cross-town rival Pitt’s recruiting class: 6’11”, 6’8″, 6’9″ and 6’9″ and all of them rated in somebody’s top 100. Shouldn’t there be a law against having that many tall guys in one city at the same time? Look into that for us, willya Fly?

— Wonder what Jeff Bro-Grebe is doing with his free time?

— TCU did an Australian tour similar to the one that UD did last year and old friend Nucleus Smith averaged 10PPG. Nuke was injured much of last season and new TCU Coach Neil Daugherty is looking for big things from him.
