The Dayton Flyers hosted the Loyola Ramblers on Saturday afternoon looking to stop the bleeding following a trio of uninspired losses to GW, UMass, and most recently George Mason.  With the Flyer Faithful begging for something positive to cheer for, UD tendered just enough first aid in front of another sellout crowd of 13,407 to slip past the 'Blers 83-81 in overtime on an Amael L'Etang basket with 0.2 seconds left.  Dayton improves to 12-6 (2-3) while Loyola falls to 11-7 (2-3).
The Ramblers topped Dayton 77-72 in Chicago in last season's only meeting. UD led that contest at the half, ended with a better FG%, 3PT%, FT%, and out-rebounded LUC, but finished with just 10 assists to 22 turnovers while the Ramblers had 20 assists against 11 turnovers.  The ball-handling discrepancy resulted in 13 more LUC FGAs that ultimately lost the game. Heading into Saturday however, Dayton still owned a commanding 35-16 advantage in the series and were 2-1 overall since LUC joined the Atlantic-10.  Prior to league membership, UD and LUC last met in 1993 as members of the MCC.
Dayton opened up a 9-2 lead with the help of two triples, but LUC responded well and grabbed their first lead at 13-11 on a trey from the left side. A 8-0 Flyer run capped by a driving layup from Malachi Smith secured a 22-15 Flyer lead and forced a Rambler timeout.
