Dayton hosted #6 Marquette on Saturday night, the first Top-10 team to visit UD Arena since #6 Pittsburgh in 2007.  The Flyers overcame a sluggish first half and 13-point deficit after halftime to top the Golden Eagles 71-63 and extend their UD Arena home winning streak to 24 games -- good enough for fifth-longest in the country.  UD improves to 9-2 while MU falls to 9-2.
UD and Marquette last met in in 2008 in Chicago when Rob Lowery led the Flyers with 21pts in a 89-75 victory over the #15 Golden Eagles (coached by Buzz Williams) despite shooting just 25-39 from the charity stripe.  The game became legendary for Chris Wright's breakaway dunk over Maurice Acker that coined the phrase "countrywide" for a highlight destined to saturate and repeat in all corners of sports television. The Flyers entered tonight's battle as winners of five of the last six games in the series dating back to 1998, including a thrilling 61-60 win at UD Arena in 2000 when Yuanta Holland made a full-court layup with just two seconds left.
Dayton scored the first points of the game on a Zed Key stick-back, but scoring would soon become a major problem over the first 20 minutes. Marquette took UD out of their offense and forced bad shots, while doing enough offensively to build a 14-5 lead midway through the first half. The Flyers couldn't shoot, missing shots from the perimeter and not getting great look...
