Coming off a dramatic, buzzer-beating victory at home vs. Loyola to snap a three-game losing skid, the Dayton Flyers hit the road for a short turnaround at Duquesne on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. Looking to pocket their first true road victory of the season, UD accomplished that goal with a 82-62 blowout win in front of 3,218 fans -- probably half of them rooting for the Flyers.  Dayton improves to 13-6 (3-3) while Duquesne falls to 9-10 (4-2).
UD and DU played three times last season -- twice in the A10 regular season and once in the A10 Tournament Quarterfinals. The Flyers won both home and away meetings in the regular season by double-digit margins, but were upset in Brooklyn 65-57 when ranked #24 nationally. The Dukes would go on to beat St. Bonaventure and VCU to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA tourney, upsetting #6 seed BYU in the First Round before falling to #3 seed Illinois two days later. The Flyers still reached the Big Dance as an at-large selection, topping #10 seed Nevada in a thrilling comeback win, but exited the Second Round after losing to #2 seed Arizona.
The Flyers started the game with four three-pointers, two of them enjoying friendly bounces from the soft rims.
