The best thing you can do for your PC right now is to click on this article from The Fly’s favorite newspaper, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette and download the free spyware remover: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04180/338495.stm

I did and found 264 pieces of garbage that La Famille Swampy had picked up on our travels along the Information Superhighway.

— One other thing: if you are an AOL user, go into ‘preferences’ and see what it says you have chosen for your home page. I’ll bet dollars to donuts that some site you have never heard of is listed there. I have to check every week or so and reset our PC for aol.com.

— I’m no computer expert, but this lady is — Kim Komando. Her radio show is one of the properties I rep. Here’s a link to her website: http://www.komando.com/

— Kim is actually the answer to a question in the latest edition of Trivial Pursuit: What radio personality is known as “the Digital Goddess?”

— And yes, Komando is her real last name.

— Red Auerbach on the kind of player he looks for in the NBA draft: “I want instigators, not retaliators.”

— I’m having a hard time determining who made me want to slit my wrists more during ESPN’s coverage of the NBA draft-“Pukie” V or Steven A. Smith. I guess we know now what the ‘A’ stands for.

— Would Vitale have started rhapsodizing about LA if his boy Coach K was leading the Lakers?

— Dickie V gets all over kids who leave college early or HS kids who back out on college commitments like Shaun Livingston did to Duke. Would he have done the same to Coach K if he had taken a hike?

— The Red Sox are making it very difficult to believe that this is “The Year”.

— I’m still hoping that Danny Ainge knows what he’s doing with the Celtics. In the meantime, it sure was fun watching the Pistons dismantle the Lakers in the NBA Finals, wasn’t it?

— The Lakers camped out in the trendy suburb of Birmingham for a week during the Finals and got a full ration of crap from Pistons fans wherever they went. Jack Nicholson was supposedly spotted all over town, but didn’t actually materialize until the 5th and final game.

— Rasheed Wallace stays a Piston. End of story.

— Had to love how Jay Bilas drilled Kris Humphries of the Minnesota Golden Gophers a new one during the NBA draft. Jay conveniently neglected to mention that Humphries reneged on his commitment to Bilas’ alma mater, the Duke Blue Devils. No hidden agendas there, right Jay?

— I wish the Pistons summer league was being conducted in Detroit instead of Minneapolis, so I could go cheer for KW.

— Look for a profile of the Elder Swampette-otherwise known as Cristen Meadows–appearing on the UD website in the near future. The ES is getting ready to take the LSATs this fall, will graduate a semester early in December and attend law school the following fall.

— The Younger Swampette — otherwise known as Caitlin Meadows — finished her HS softball career in fine style, going 21-9 with 286 Ks, 3 no-hitters and 10 shutouts. She made All-League, All-Area, All-District and Academic All-State. Caitlin led her team to the Sweet 16 of Division 1 HS Softball Playoffs, further than any Birmingham Groves squad had ever gone.

— As a Kinesiology major at Michigan the YS won’t be able to try out for the softball team–she has to do 1500 hours of hands-on athletic training in the next 4 years. She’ll play competitive softball for the last time with her Oakland Sidewinders summer team at the USSSA World Series in Shawnee Mission, KS from July 27th-August 1st.

— Whatever happened to Tom Crosswhite?

— We’ll never know how good Thad Matta really was at Xavier. He never coached a team comprised of his own recruits. Just like Butler. Sooner or later he’ll have to create magic from scratch.

That’s it “From the Swamp”
