BEVERLY HILLS (MI) — He was the first guy to commit in UD’s two-person Class of 2011 recruits, but beyond that, let’s be honest — what do we really know about 6’8” 240 pound Detroit Southeastern (MI) PF Percy Gibson? “FTS” is here to help provide some insight and, as always, Google is our friend.
— The earliest mentions that I found of Gibson are from May 2008 when he played on the Michigan Mustang 15s with his Southeastern HS buddy Brandan Kearney and future Flyer classmate LaDontae “Buckets” Henton:

And from the Adidas Classic in Indy, where he played ‘up’ with the 17s:

— Jamal Richards’ WeFlyHighBallers.com had PG ranked as the #3 prospect in the Michigan HS Class of 2011, ahead of such notables as MSU recruits Dwaun Anderson and Kearney:

— Inside Prep Sports had an early look at Gibson before his junior season started:

— A pic of Percy shooting a layup (left-handed, natch) from the Freep:
— Doug Harris of the DDN with a story on PG and a guy BG was after who has since transferred to a prep school and reclassified to the Class of 2012 (blame Xavier!), former Akron SVSM star Jakarr Sampson:
— Next Generation Sports had some nice things to say about Percy’s play in the Memorial Classic in June of this year (and about 2012 BG target Javontae Hawkins, too):

— Another piece from NGS on the Great Lakes Championship and how Percy basically ate 2012 MSU recruit Matt Costello’s lunch, scoring 6 points in OT to secure a win for Team Detroit:

— Steve Bell from MLive.com was also at this tournament and came to pretty much the same conclusion:

— Percy was considered the top player at Dayton’s team camp by this guy from BearcatReport.com:

As Warner Wolf of ABC Sports used to say “let’s go to the highlights”:

If you are really bored, here are two complete game videos from Detroit Southeastern’s 2009-2010 hoops season, courtesy of MHSAA.tv:

— One thing that we do know about Percy Gibson is that the dude is in desperate need of a cool nickname, stat. When your fellow Class of 2011 recruit is known in basketball circles as “Buckets” if you are Percy, you have got some serious catching-up to do!
I plugged his name into the “And1 Street Ball Name Generator” and it came up with this:
Percy “Main Course” Gibson
I like it!
Try it yourself (they ask a series of questions; your results may vary):

What’s your suggestion?
That’s it “From the Swamp.”
