You asked for examples of when the team has come out flat. Do you see how your "proof" doesn't disprove his claim?

WOW! Horrible decision by CJ but ODU give us another shot and PW with the TRES!
They couldn't shoot 98% from the line all day either...

Great toughness and fight from the Flyers to come back to the lead.

NO OFFENSE WHEN IT COUNTS. can't run a play
Devin Searcy - used and abused last three possessions (scored on, block by the backboard, scored on).

like I said a while back, The difference was going to be the strength inside. 2 layups for ODU while DS misses a layup because he was underneath the backboard.

I would characterize a positive start to the second half 5 out of 9 times as not good and consider it evidence that we struggle to start the half.

BG ?
Out of a time out we have a trey shot for CJ, the same play they have run a thousand times.
At the defensive end we stay in man instead of 2-3 zone with Searcy playing post D?
What does BG do in practice?

Paul Williams is quietly and confidently having a great shooting season. He's been lighting it up all season from deep.

Wow...how does this ODU team ever lose? They never commit a foul. It looks like the Flyers will come up just short but all in all this is the best they have looked all year. I am proud of them for the first time since the Ole Miss game.

Wow!!! Just wow!
Nearly tie it up at the end. Would CJ's trey have counted? It sounded like the refs blew the whistle while he was in the act of shooting.

fun game to watch, unfortunately I'm sure a lot of people on here will be happy with this game.
I just wish Juwan would have pulled up.....I think he would have had a decent chance of hitting that wide-open 30 footer.

Great game. ODU shoots 85% from line after having shot 61% for year-who would have thought. great comeback be flyers. Now if LF could finally make an open shot.

We shot 42% as a team. Chris Wright 4-13 himself. 3 for 6 from the Line.
Just pointing out things that cost us. Josh B oh for 4 from the line.
Parker, Kavs, Fabs, Spearman 3 for 15 from the field. Guys like Parker have to come thru in games like this.
It was there for us, with just couple more hits from the field. We outhustled ODU in the last 8 minutes.

I'm not saying these 9 games prove anything, but I really don't follow your logic. What if we started positive 0 out of 9? It seems that would qualify as "struggle". Half the time would seem to imply random (not a trend of struggling).
You seem to be saying that 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 are "struggling" while 8 is "random" and 9 is "acceptable".

That might have been our best team effort of the season. But we just got killed by their big men. They sealed us off down low so many times for lay-ups.

you're right, BG has some tough choices down low, none of them immediately promising. i think we should play Chris wright at the 5 .
I am not kidding!
him, Benson as 4 and 5. Searcy for relief. CJ, PW And STATEN rouding it out. the top 5 guys get 34 minutes.
Parker gets more when he's hot. oyyyyy

first time I have said that this season about any player. This game was lost because of a lack of physical play in the paint.

Great Game
I hate a loss as much as anyone but this was a great basketball game to watch. UD played very hard and well on the road. I hope we continue to schedule ODU. It is a fine match-up.

You didn't disprove anything. We do have problems with coming out flat in the second half, and your facts show that.

his season has been defined by poor shot selection and especially taking them early in the shot clock. I wouldn't mind it if he was taking some bad shots as the clock runs down but he does it early in possessions and it stops any continuity on offense.

Absolutely, they got second and third shots when they needed it, and their offensive boarding killed us.
They didn't shoot so well either, just outboarded us 39-29.
UD getting outrebounded, never thought i'd see this day.

Not to get into a tickle fight here but here is where I was coming from.
Someone said we struggle coming out of the half. Someone else disagreed and provided statistics supposedly proving that we don't struggle coming out of the half. In my opinion, outscoring our opponents in the first five minutes of the second half in 5 out of 9 games does not disprove that we struggle coming out of the half.
If there was more to the argument than just "struggling to start a half" then I must have missed it or misread the post. Regardless of original argument, all I am saying is put me in the group of people who think our play to start the second have could improve drastically.

CW had a decent game. I don't mind if players miss shots if they are taking good ones. CW has been forcing 4-5 shots every game and it is disappointing that he isn't improving in that area.

that Sea Bass, plus these are shots fresh and sophs would take.
Can't believe he can't finish, dribble or lead us on the Offensive end.
I do give him props for D and hustle.

I'm so confused...i have no idea what i am saying now. That last 2 minutes threw me for a loop. Lets just say that we could improve to start the second half....in the middle of the second half....at the end of the second half....and might as well improve in the first half as well.

I dont blame the players for this loss. They played hard and you could tell they wanted it. Aside from the FT shooting disparity, I have to question BG as to why he didnt go more zone in the second half when ODU was scoring inside. ODU didnt impress me as being a great perimeter shooting team. I think going zone would have made the difference. Just my opinion. Other than that, I was encouraged by the effort. I also think Juwan matured a bit today.

Ditto, evenly matched teams, reps and just a quality game.
First one i've seen more than 50% of this year, as opposed to Gametracker or espn delayed stats/scores

Now, what you could reasonably argue is that BG got burned coming out of that timeout. He called a timeout to most likely set up a play against a man-to-man defense - as that is what ODU was playing. However, coming out of the timeout ODU switched to a zone and we looked unprepared for the change and wasted a lot of time trying to adjust. Therefore, CJ could only throw up a wild shot to try and beat the clock.

Rebounding and FTs. Game, set, match.
We competed however, and thats a step in the right direction for this team. That's something that's been largely missing all season.
