Rolfe Called Up to US National Team for World Cup Qualifying
After a squeaky bum win over Barbados last weekend (8-0 for the good guys), Bob Bradley is letting the starters rest and calling up some newer and younger guys, including Dayton's own Chris Rolfe! Rolfe already has 6 caps for the USMNT and seeing that the US got 8 goals against Barbados, perhaps he can notch a goal!

He missed the Fire match on Saturday due to a reported "slight groin injury". Let's hope he is healthy as he has had problems with that type of injury in the past. Obviously, the injury must not be too serious or Bradley would not have called him up.
In his previous matches with the Nats I thought he was not aggressive enough. A couple of times he came in when the US had a lead and being aggressive would not have been prudent. He did have a goal called back when another player committed a phantom foul as he put it in the net.
Go Rolfie!

they called up thorrington too. i can remember not long ago when chicago fans looked at john thorrington like UD fans used to look at Jeff Tressler and Don Hughess.
yes, be aggressive and run at defenders.

I watched this game at the same time with the Italy-Spain game. What a world of difference in quality of play.
Rolfe had a great scoring opportunity after he came on to play in the 65th minute or so. About 15 minutes later, he had a cross just out of his reach; if he would have got a foot on it, it would have been in the back of the net. What an ugly game though.

They didn't play nearly as hard/well as the first game a week ago. Kind of disappointing even though I knew they would play like that. Just going through the motions sucks...
