The 5'11" playmaking PG from Merrimack... Will have 3 years of eligibility remaining.
Kid at the very least will push Mali, but could be more than that... Very talented young player, was NEC Rookie of the Year this past season.

@A10stats
With the addition of
@JavonBennett9
,
@DaytonMBB
add the player with the second highest steal rate in the country last season. I had to adjust my polar plot to fit his 4.74 standard deviations above average he put up!

Stocking up on guards, which is good. Would like to get a good wing now, like the kid from France, Michael Belle. Got a feeling he’s an under-the-radar gem.

Looks like a nice pick-up by Grant.
Does that leave 4 scholarships left? Maybe we need 4 more point guards, you know, just in case.

Interesting pickup. I'm loving the steals AND Asissts aspect for sure. Small but hey, the guy from K State was smaller too.hopefully he can improve shot percentages.

Love his steals numbers. Those shooting numbers however are woeful. I shall remain optimistic because it costs me nothing.

I don't care about the actual size of the jockstrap, all I care about is that he puts it on and plays to its potential.

I thought Flyer fans wished we had someone who could shoot?
Unless they could shoot, in which case they were too slow.
Unless they could shoot and were quick, in which case they were too short.
Unless they could shoot, were quick, and tall enough, but didn't have heart.
Unless. . . .

I am guessing IHS got his info from a paywalled site and doesn't want to give out that info because of that.

I don’t think that UD has a habit of announcing recruiting visits. They may not be private, but they don’t make them public. I think we have some sleuths who are able to do the math. I get the feeling that lhs might have some other insight. Don’t know.

BTW don't look at Javon's total stats... It took him a little while to get going and get major minutes as a true freshman.
Quick reminder, final 15 Games, he became a workhorse:
36.3 MPG 13.1 PPG 2.6 RPG 5.1 APG 3.1 SPG 42% FG 35% 3PT 83% FT

Offensively his numbers are concerning, but I'd be happy with a Kyle Davis-like defender. Even better if he can force live ball turnovers and actually start the break and push the pace.

Probably a question for FiggieStats but I'd be curious the last time UD had a player average over two steals a game.

I'd love to see actual numbers put to this complaint. It's such an irritating thing when it happens that I'm thinking that it sticks with you longer than other irritating things would.
I'd be surprised if UD was in the C - F range in D1 in this stat. I'd bet they'd be around a B to B- over all D1 at the worst.
I looked but couldn't find this anywhere to prove or disapprove my gut feel.

As with all new members transferring in .... will we remember all these numbers in January 2024 when the heart of the conference starts its season?
Welcome Javon!
We are depending upon you to transfer these numbers to UD and improve them too. We're counting on the staff and the rest of the team to help in your quest to succeed!

Scooch comes in around 1.5 per game his last 3 years but I feel that he had lots of deflections that if he got credit for all of those that resulted in steals he'd have to be close to 2 per game.

I think the question of steals came up in the last year on here, and I think the answer was Alex Robertson being the leader in average, just do not recall how many per game. Obviously Figgie is asleep at his desk again, never around when we need him.

What I would like to see from a point guard is having the ability to break down the defense with the dribble. In my humble opinion, we have lacked a guard who could do so. With the dribble penetration the defense has to react to it and the kick out for a three, provided we have a capable 3 point shooter, becomes a much more viable option.

Hard to do much with the dribble drive when you have traditional bigs in the lane.
I think Mali's actually a pretty good penetrator. The others on the roster, not so much, though Elvis can get to a midrange jumper pretty easily.

I'm happy with a Kyle Davis type guy. "One man press" according to his coach. And high praise about his character and work ethic.
Now we need a couple of intimidating bigs. Even if Holmes stays.

AG's clearly grabbing the talent of lesser conferences. It will be interesting to see how the skills translate up to the A10. Hopefully, he can add a couple of stud true freshman.

Well, as we've seen in years past and even so in the recent NCAA tourney, lots of Power 5 teams lure the talent of lesser conferences and even from schools we've hardly ever heard of and especially PG/SG's. Many of these kids didn't play AAU or go to camps which is the hot bed of recruiting anymore and getting offered so ranking and recognition was a non-factor. Add in the fact that as 16-17 year olds they were no where close to being the same person/player they became at 19-20 years old and many of these kids can play and be successful anywhere.

The guy certainly improved his shooting over the year. Maybe we should hire the Coach for the newly added assistant coach position. We could use help improving our shooting everywhere on the team.
